CJ OliveNetworks IDC was awarded the “Ministerial Citation of Science and ICT” during the Smart Data Center Conference 2017, which was held on December 22, 2017 in the Federation of Korean Industries’ conference hall in Yeouido.
This event, which was sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT, Korea Data Center Council, and Korea Data Center Expert Group and managed by the Green Data Center Certification Committee, was intended as a site for the sharing of information on the operation of next-generation data centers in the face of the paradigm shift of the ICT industry toward the IoT, cloud, big data, and mobile (ICBM) industries.
CJ OliveNetworks IDC, which is located in Songdo, Incheon, was built in December 2010 as one of the most advanced data center infrastructures (LEVEL3+) in Korea. It features a single cooling unit with a lower operating temperature for coolants, representing a decrease in the number of cooling units required, a reduction in energy consumption, and a decrease of the power usage effectiveness (PUE) ratio from 1.63 to 1.50.
The system also integrates other measures toward energy efficiency such as high-efficiency inverter turbo cooling units for managing the overload, LED lighting, and insulation between the racks to prevent air recirculation.
Through these efforts, CJ OliveNetworks IDC was able to provide a yearly average of 1.51 PUE for this year, which was promptly recognized by the sole “Ministerial Citation of Science and ICT” that was awarded to a corporation this year.
Manager Min-jung Park of CJ OliveNetworks IDC’s Facility Safety Department commented: “We are very pleased that our efforts toward efficient energy paid off in a positive recognition” and “we will continue to work toward reducing our energy consumption including a potential integration of the indirect outdoor air cooling system into the infrastructure.”
CJ OliveNetworks gave a presentation on the case studies from the operation of its IDC during this event as well. (End)
