“CJ ONE steps forward to engage in a culture-sharing activity as a first in the membership service industry”

[CJ OliveNetworks= April 16, 2018 (Monday)] CJ’s integrated lifestyle membership service CJ ONE holds a promotion event for the invitation-only exhibit “CJ ONE Week × Aardman Animation: Wallace & Gromit and Friends” until April 22.
CJ ONE partnered with BAIS, a company specializing in exhibits, to plan the event. It is all the more meaningful as it is the first time for a membership service business to hold a differentiated culture-sharing activity that supports the cultural activities of youth in need of culture experiencing opportunities, going beyond being simply an exclusive event for its members.
Any CJ ONE member can download 1+1 discount coupons to the exhibit using the service’s mobile app. Even if only one person visits the exhibit, they can still get a 50% discount on the exhibit ticket. The downloaded coupon can be used to get a discount by presenting it at the ticket booth of the Design Exhibition Hall at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).
In particular, CJ ONE will invite 500 youth with relatively less opportunities to participate in cultural activities to the exhibit alongside its members, to live up to CJ Group’s social contribution corporate philosophy as well as practice sharing and mutual development.
The company plans to give away tickets to elementary and middle school students participating in the SW Creative Camp, a representative social contribution program of CJ OliveNetworks, as well as institutions with which the company has worked with in the past for regular volunteering activities and sponsorships.
Aardman Studios is a British animation studio established in 1972 that has introduced stop motion technology using clay for making crafts. It has showcased various short and long clay animations for about 40 years. Among the studio’s representative long works are “Wallace & Gromit,” “Chicken Run,” and “Flushed Away,” which Koreans in their 20s and 30s are familiar with.
These have also been consistent favorites by people of all ages for their unique analog appeal in terms of both emotion and story. The studio boasts of four Academy Awards for the Best Animated Feature category and two BAFTA awards, the British version of the Academy Awards. As part of their large-scale exhibit tour, Seoul became the fourth in their lineup following those held in Paris, France; Frankfurt, Germany; and Melbourne, Australia.
The exhibit will present a total of 372 clay dolls, shooting sets, drawings, and sketches, among others, of clay animations that the studio has produced. In addition, behind-the-scenes videos that have not been unveiled before as well as diverse experience zones will be prepared to let visitors vividly experience at once the start and end of the studio’s animations.
“We believe it is a very meaningful event, not only because we are showcasing performances and an exhibit that fit CJ’s image of creating culture and leading lifestyle for our members, but also because we are sharing the opportunity to experience culture with youth in need. Starting with this event, we plan to continue holding sharing activities so that anyone may enjoy culture,” said a manager Cho Yeon-hwa of CJ ONE.
CJ ONE has held high-quality cultural events, such as performances and exhibits for its members since 2017. The company has also offered the opportunity to experience unique cultures, selecting exhibits held in major cities—Seoul, Daegu, Ulsan, and Jeju—to narrow the cultural gap between regions and to contribute to vitalizing each region’s artistic base.
